About the Campaign

Medical Wing of Rajayoga Education & Research Foundation, a sister concern of Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, is an international NGO working towards a healthy, wealthy, prosperous and peaceful world.

The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced. It kills nearly six million people a year, of whom more than 5 million are users & ex-users, and more than 6,00,000 are non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke. Approximately one person dies every six seconds due to tobacco and this accounts for one in 10 adult deaths. Up to half of current users will eventually die of a tobacco-related disease.

The campaign specifically focuses on children and youth, in and outside educational institutions. The campaign will start at the school level addressing adolescent groups and continue with college students. Parents/teachers will be sensitized to develop skills to understand the psychology of the youth and to help them keep away from substance abuse. The high-risk groups like commercial sex workers, the mobile population like tourists and truck drivers, the children of alcoholics and drug addicts, children of HIV affected parents, street children, prisoners and school dropouts, will be specifically addressed.

The main objective of the campaign is Preventive Education and Awareness generation programme addressing specific target groups (vulnerable and at-risk groups) in their neighbourhood, educational institutions, workplace, slums and social welfare organizations with the purpose of sensitizing the community about the impact of addiction, and the need to take professional help to treat addiction. Through the campaign, we also incorporate the concept of Whole Person Recovery (WPR) of addicts by creating awareness about a Healthy Lifestyle through lifestyle modifications, drug awareness and de-addiction programmes, etc.

All are invited to be a part of the campaign and to help themselves not only getting rid of addiction but also to be part of a journey into a Golden India offering happiness, peace and prosperity.
