A conference on spiritual health for Doctors and their family members From 20th to 21st December 2008, Maharashtra. Conference on ‘Mind Body Medicine’ was held in Pune, Maharashtra on 20th-21st Dec 2008. It was inaugurated by Rajyogini Dadi Janki, Chief of Brahma Kumar’s & Dr. K.H. Sancheti, Sr. Orthopedic Surgeon, Pune. More than a thousand Doctors & Professionals related to the field, in Pune & surrounding areas, attended the conference. It was organized by the Brahma Kumaris’ Medical Wing. The conference received enormous response.  | The focus was to bring to light the missing dimension in healthcare in order to help the patients effectively. Doctors agreed that presence of Spirituality & Values alongside medicine was a necessity in these times. They also agreed that inculcation of Values can play a crucial role & can give optimum results in treatments. After the conference, a consensus was arrived at to convene again next year. It was decided to hold programs in the Pune Municipal Corporation & Hospitals connected to it. Training sessions will be conducted for Doctors& Medical staff. The Pune Medical Association has already started programmes on a small scale. Training is scheduled for 50 Doctors. The plan is to regularize such trainings involving larger groups. | On speaking about the necessity of Values in Healthcare, Dadi Janki, Chief of Brahma Kumaris’ encouraged doctors to become ‘Double Doctors’ ie. For Body as well as Mind & said that that they can bring faster relief to patients by using Meditation as Medication. She said that instead of giving tablets for ‘Pain’ like Doctors do, she would like to give everyone 3 Tablets for relief from ‘Suffering’: ‘Peace’, ‘Patience’ & ‘Love’. Dr. K.H Sancheti, Sr. Orthopedic Surgeon, Pune & Chief Guest, thanked the Brahma Kumaris’ for creating awareness about the importance of Spirituality & Values in Healthcare, on such a large scale.
